Outrageous Shipping Fees and No Toys

I am an educator and I spent quite a lot of time researching the toys I wanted to give to the children in my family. I ordered toys from Young Explorer in the first week of December (12/5) and paid by check. I was trying to avoid using my credit card and the ordering and shipping information indicated I had enough time.

I called Customer Service on the morning of December 18th and lo and behold: I was told that my order was being shipped standard delivery that very day! I protested to customer service that the order had taken too long to process and there was no way I could receive the items by Christmas with the standard shipping I had paid for. I then had to pay and additional $14.99 to have those (4) items shipped 2 day delivery, which meant if they had sent them out on Thursday (like they said) I would have them Saturday.

This did not work. I received an e-mail from them on Friday 12/19 telling me 2 of the 4 items I ordered had shipped. Keep in mind I have now paid more in shipping than I paid for the items. I called customer service again and was told the remaining 2 items are backordered and NOT COMING at all. I never received a polite or adequate explanation as to why the company did not communicate any of this to me in a timely fashion.

Now I am short all 4 gifts! The 2 that are on the way are going to get here too late, and I had to go out and replace ALL the gifts, because Monday is too late for me to send the items to their recipients, which were going to be delivered to their locations by relatives travelling in their car. I am planning on sending the Young Explorer gifts back to the company, if and when they arrive.

I don't even want to add up all the expense, time and trouble this company has caused me, and I am going to tell every parent and educator (that's quite a few) I know how LOUSY, RUDE and IRRESPONSIBLE this company truly is!
