I know this is long but hear me out or feel free to scroll down to an area that may be of your interest. I'm an army wife and have moved many times along the east coast. Thus being said, I know the ends and outs of the moving business. Hopefully, my experience or tips and information can assist you in some way in order to choose a reliable and reputable moving company.
MY SERVICE EXPERIENCE WITH THE CREW:
-My appointment time was at 2:00pm. I was called, by Patricia, that my appt time had been pushed back to 2:30. I arrived at 2:19. I realized that I gave them the incorrect pick-up. I arranged for someone to call the driver with the correct info. She informed Charles that I cannot take calls (as my plan is prepay) but that he could txt me. He apologized to her numerous times for his tardiness and said that I would not be charged until they get there. I remained at the incorrect location until 2:47 (just in case they showed up) and then drove a block down to my storage unit.
-They arrived at precisely 3:01. The driver mentioned being at the u-haul for sometime. I told him that I remained there until 2:45 and said that he was contacted with the correct info. He confirmed what was said regarding the txt/misunderstanding. He apologized for being late as I apologized for giving the incorrect address. With the exception of taking a smoke break, in which I was charged, Charles and "Wolf" were very polite and were steady with loading and unloading. All in all, I was happy with their service. Upon hearing my amount it sounded off compared to my calculations. I had a verbal agreement, so I had no problem paying for the agreed hour of travel. I left a tip for their outstanding service.
OWNERSHIP ISSUES:
-After looking at the bill, the following morning, it appeared that the crew wrote down my appt time and the time they arrived at my location. I had been charged an additional half hour (for the time they were supposedly sitting at the incorrect space. Patricia patiently explained the charges. She politely apologized for the mishap. She agreed that there would be a refund and explained that my military discount was too much and corrected it. She explained they recently bought CCM and the paperwork was confusing. An hour or so later, the owner called and informed me that there will be no refund and in a nutshell I was lying. He claims the work crew were at my incorrect location for half an hour and he was "sticking to it". He continually cut me off and raised his voice each time I tried to speak and hung up on me.
POINT OF ACTION:
-I have NEVER had a business owner so unprofessional. I have reported them to the BBB, as they are accredited. I plan on going through the military in attempting to place them on the black list for any future military moves to or from this area and its vicinities. I have also requested an anon home security business to direct potential movers elsewhere. I am also reporting my personal experiences through common moving scam web pages and usacomplaints.com.
USEFUL INFORMATION:
-Circle City Movers USDOT# checks out. However, unless you request the USDOT#, ins.#, a written estimate, fuel surcharges, line haul charges, etc., nothing will be voluntarily given. They don't tell you this but they are not responsible for any damages or loss reported to the office within 24hrs from 8am on the date of your move. (Unless you're superman, or hire hands to unload all of your goods, this is impossible.) DO YOUR RESEARCH!
As of now, I do not, and will not, recommend this company to anyone in the future planning on moving. If there are any reconciliations in a timely fashion, I will post my outcome for any future consumers.
