I am writing on behalf of my bestfriend who wants to be left anyonmous to protect her family's feelings about her recent diagnosis. My friend has two beautiful twin boys and a loving husband. They have been together for awhile now and are so close it even suprises me how loved up they are, this coming from a woman with a 40 year marriage. My friend is the best person you could ever meet and she tries her best in life. Her husband has given his all in their business while my friend stayed at home looking after the boys. The business with today's economy is now turning for the worse and she has confided in me recently sharing her worries about how they can afford to keep up their lifestyle. The two of them are willing to make any change that keeps the boys away from the stress. When all seemed to be okay again, my friend was recently told she needs an operation to improve her chances of surviving - not even cure her!
She isn't from the U.S. And her insurance doesnt cover a US operation so the extra needs to be paid by her and her husband. She doesnt have the money and has even gone as far as re mortgaging everything, selling the car, anything to try and get the money as quickly as possible. A few days ago she approached
*'Dominique Cohen'* about taking back a necklace she got from me as a gift recently. She was embarrassed and even cried when she talked about her situation saying she has never worn the necklace and would like a cash refund. Dominique Cohen didnt even read the emails herself, didnt take the calls, instead someone who works for her sent an email not even 5 minutes later saying ' we dont give cash refunds but if you want another piece of jewelry we can exchange it'. My friend has never begged but she is so desperate and even wrote back in embarrasement asking for *Dominique Cohen*to re-consider - to forward the e-mail to *Dominique Cohen* (the designer of her piece). The millions this famous designer makes comes from even my pocket and a lot of our friends. She sells her pieces for 1.000's but cant even guarantee her jewelry by taking back something that has never been worn with the tag on it! For a few thousand back so a poor woman in need can stay on this planet healthy and strong, to raise her boys and stay by her husbands side. A woman who has risked everything to have her family not know whats happening - a woman who goes every minute knowing her life could be just that little bit longer if she was having her operation right now. A woman that hoped another woman would understand - she didn't want a donation - she wanted to give *Dominique Cohen* her piece back in exchange for the money it costs - so Dominique Cohen could sell it on again -
After all the e-mails and calls pleading and trying to make sense of her situation - A representative from *Dominique Cohen* sent an e-mail saying although she feels sorry for my friend she won't refund the piece but if she wants credit towards another necklace, ring, etc. Maybe she can do something for her. My friend doesnt know im putting this on the internet. She tried taking it to Nieman Marcus and Saks but they told her to go to Dominique Cohen. She tried everything and anything. After telling Dominique Cohen she has tried everything they finally send her an e-mail ignoring her. POLICIES can be changed - i am a business owner and I know this! Policy is what you make it! Girls, Dont buy from DOMINIQUE COHEN - buy from someone who cares. Think of anyone you know that you love that needs help you cant give them! Think of the person that can not even caring to talk to her about it personally. To deny her the right to be a respected healthy woman for the sake of a necklace! I have the e-mail Dominique Cohen's Employee sent her so here you go:

'Moji, our Los Angeles manager, forwarded me your email exchange as clearly you wish to have another party weigh in here. I am sorry to hear of your medical situation. That said, we cannot take back the necklace for a refund due to a few reasons.
The biggest issue is that you do not have a receipt and thus it is impossible for us to verify that the necklace was in fact purchased at one of our two retail locations.in all likelihood it was not as we are also in approximately 40 Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue stores across the country [not to mention an additional 15 independent high end jewelry stores]. Without authenticating the origins of the piece it makes it impossible for us to know if was at inception indeed dc owned product or that of one of our greater partners.
Further, if it was something that was purchased at one of our two flagship locations, we would have a greater issue of the actual return. While we stand 100 percent by our product, it is company POLICY to only accept items back for an exchange/store credit no money can be issued.
My suggestion to you is to go to Saks or Neiman Marcus [wherever you think they might have purchased it] and try to work with them on the return.
Again, we are sorry to hear of your illness and wish there was more we could do for you but unfortunately, as Moji has correctly stated, we cannot.
