My story began in September. I live on the West Bank of New Orleans, Louisiana. My family and I had just been let back to our homes after Hurricane Gustav hit our city. While beginning to replace our food and pay some bills, I decided to check my checking account balance before going to the grocery store. The account showed a negative balance, so I called the bank and found out it came from Direct TV taking out $478.79.
I then called Direct TV. They told me it was for the month I owed, an extra month for canceling the service, and the receivers I had at my home. On September 16 the receivers arrived at Direct TV. I called, and a representative told me that I would get a refund for the receivers and that it would take 5-7 business days to be back on my credit card. The funds were never put back on my credit card.
I continually called to find out the status of my refund, and everyone I spoke with gave me the runaround. It is now November, almost Thanksgiving, and I have not received my refund yet. The last time I called, I was told it will take 6-8 weeks to receive a check in the mail. The last two times I called, I was told that they have to download the receivers because of pay preview movies. No one in my household downloaded any pay preview movies.
I have kept some of the names of the representatives I spoke with, one supervisor in particular named Christian, badge # X3137. Christian told me to write a letter to P.O. Box 6550, Greenwood Village, Colorado 80155. I wrote a letter and mailed it off. I am not sure if they have received it yet, but I will not give up. The refund money is mine and I will try my hardest to get it.
