L & M Freight was hired to haul a load of frozen fish to Sysco Detroit through a freight broker called Fat Daddy Trucking. The load was delivered without any problems, no damage or claims at all. But the freight broker started in playing phone games about the payment. They kept insisting that the check had been cut on 8-8-08 and even gave me the check number. The check finally arrived on 9-2-08, they had shorted the payment by $330.00, it was the correct check number, but the envelope was post marked 8-29-08.
This confirmed my suspicions that they had been lying and putting off paying me for the laod. I made repeated phone calls to get this corrected, but no one would call me back to get this straightened out.
Then on 9-9-08, my bank sent me a letter stating that Fat Daddy Trucking had stopped payment on the check. I called them to see what was going on and the phone games started all over again, they promised that someone would return my call. I decided to call their bond company and make a complaint.
I received a fax from them later stating that because the freight that was hauled was fish, it was except from me filing a claim against that company for lack of payment. I'm confused by this, I'm not sure where to go to find out if that is true or not. The fact remains that I hauled a $1600.00 load, delivered it as hired and was robbed by FAT DADDY TRUCKING.
