DEX MEDIA WEST Billing for Unauthorized Continuation of Advertisement for a nonactive Business

Be aware of the unprofessionalism and unscrupulous handling of advertisement accounts with DEX MEDIA (DEX WEST) a RH Donnelley Co.
I agree with report 274997 concerning the negligence and incompetence of Dex's sales advertising staff and subsequent dealings with this company.

The first was after an initial workup for services paid... For a DEX yellowpage and internet advertisement.
The initial agent went off the scope out of contact and it took 6 months to get even a general fix on the internet.
No team as promised ever contacted me for the professional presentation and information for my business as initially stated by their agent. Even knowing what to look for, name etc. Was almost impossible to find — what poor service. I got better visibility with a free service.

Finally and this is the current situation. Another agent assigned to the account this year called before April stating and inquiring about renewing the page in the phone book and internet service. I stated directly NO. Related the poor service and followup. That there will be no further renewal. Second that my scope of business changed and I am spending my mostly all of my professional energies in another endeavor in another town (Mesa).. Another reason for not renewing or continuing with the same account services.

The agent told me that i had time to think about it. I told her flat out not needed. She called back in April and spoke with my wife who related the same
- that i do not need the service and will not be renewing. I never received any email (at least the first agent Had sporadic correspondence via email), nor told about any other avenue for discontinuing services as it was plainly stated to her, and by my wife. She had stated that the deadline was imminent, again told by my wife that I didn't want continuation and that I was out of town for the next 12 days. FYI, I also had earlier written stating termination of services / and last payments on or with the invoices prior to the " anniversary date" during previous monthly statements - told doesn't count.

I then received a bill for renewal and then saw the ad page in the DEX phone book. I called a spoke to three people and the first with customer service and then the claims department June 1st. An Operator noted some notation by Cristy B. (the second agent) not totally true about sending in a letter to confirm not wanting service. Operator called her but I never received a call from her nor an email. Even after a third call to her phone number.

Then received a call from an adjustor stating services were terminated but need to pay for her mistake (she had the power to adjust the mistake) and unprofessionalism. I was told $750.00 and that the account has been closed.investigating this further, the same TONY as in report 274997 told me that the amount had to be paid, and then to my total surprised stated that the agent wouldn't have directed me on how to terminate the account, which has an automatic renewal clause. I was told I could take it up with my lawyer but that wouldn't change anything.
I paid the $750 to end this rip off, terminate the account, wrote to all company addresses and to RH Donnelley Co itself (no replies) and then received more billing invoices for their continuing fait accompli - what fraudulent business practices. It is also my hope that by publishing this information in a public forum such as this, you as a reader will be aware and Dex Media will realize that their unprofessional business practices and unlawful collection enforcement actions will not be ignored.
