I worked for PI & I Motor Express for six months, it first started out that I was hurt while on the job out of state mind you. I was tarping a coil of steel when I caught the edge of the coil and sliced about a 2,2 1/2 inch laceration on my upper arm. Not only did I have to go to the hospital and have stitches, I had to drive my load back to the terminal in Granite City without any pain meds and in extreme pain. I did not receive a dime for the incident and they also refused to pay the bills from the incident.
Beginning the first of the year they switched payroll companies and informed the employees that the first check of the year would be mailed and every one thereafter would be direct deposited. I waited two weeks for my first check and got a payroll advance to cover my house payment ($450), subsequently thinking that they would do like they normally do and deduct it from my paychecks.
However the next check came and they did not deduct the advance, so i spoke with my dispatcher and she said that I should wait until next weeks check to see if they deduct it then. Well then that check came and they still had not deducted it, so I deposited it in the bank, because three weeks into the first of the year they still had not set up direct deposit and the next day went to use my debit card only to find out that they had stopped payment on my payroll check.
So I contacted the big boss guy in Masury Ohio only to be told that I was going to be prosecuted for theft. WHY? I dont know. Due to the fact that they had stopped payment on the check I was unable to work for an entire week, so on the Friday of that week I quit. I turned in my fuel cards and keys and cleaned out my truck, which was at my home terminal without a load since I had not worked for a week.
I am currently unemployed and because of PI & I falsifying my DAC report I can not find another truck driver job at all. They have put on there that I misused company vehicle, which I only took my truck home on two occassions and had permission from my dispatcher to do so. They also said that I left under dispatch which was impossible since I had not worked for a week prior to my quitting. And they said that I misused company funds, which I did not have access to the companies money, only through comcheck and I had to have an authorization number in order to use them.
They eventually a month later paid me my last paycheck, charging me $200 for misc. Whatever that is supposed to be. When I contacted corporate they denied anything and said that the final charge was for stopping payment on my check. I got an advance for $450 and the company took $669 and some change and then said that I was the one that stole money.
