I own a nightclub, and upon a recommendation, contacted RushFlyers.com to do some event flyers for me. I needed 5,000 flyers for an event. Since my target market is college kids and local residents, these flyers were crucial to the promotion of the event.
I ordered up the flyers on Feb 10th. My event was slated for March 13th. I paid $100 for the flyers, and $95 for a "design fee", for a total of $195.
I even sent their designer pre-made art from a previous flyer. All he had to do was some simple text changes. After 5 or more emails, I finally got my 'proofs' back for approval.in what seemed like a cruel joke, the "designer" butchered the flyer, did not follow directions, and what I got back was literally a jumbled mess.
I politely informed them that this was unacceptable. I also informed them that i'm very busy and do not have time to argue; Either they complete the job as advertised or they refund my money so I will have time before the event to have another company do the flyers.
After an apology from them, I still heard nothing. Another week went by. I called up to complain and "Stacey" a customer service represtative was very rude when I asked for a refund. She told me they would not be giving me a full refund since they had "Bank fees" to pay. I informed her that they are the ones that did not complete the job satisfactorily, nor on time, and therefore they should eat any miniscule bank fee charges since they messed up.
She hung up on me. I called back and spoke with "Jim" the manager. Same thing. Rude, confrontational and wasn't willing to make things right.
Now let's put this in context; I recently owned a 15,000 square foot nightclub and another successful bar/restaurant. My time is very valuable and these people have not only stolen my $195, but insulted my intelligence, and then refused to give me a refund.
Many calls later, they finally issued their version of a refund: $114. $81 short of me being refunded the $195 I originally paid. Apparrently their bank charges a "40% fee".
So in summary, they wasted a lot of my valuable time, stole $81 from me, didn't complete the job on time, the job they did do was down right insulting and careless, and they are unprofessional to boot.
I wonder how many others they have scammed doing this same thing; Picking a fight with the customer, not completing the work, then finding a way to keep part of their money as a "banking" or "restocking" fee.
I have all documentation from this transaction, including bank records and my original receipt that I printed out if anyone has any questions.
