Results Unlimited Incorporated Hired By Sky Terrace Apartments (using Stallings & Bischoff, P.C. Letterheads) Freeze on Bank Account Funded by Social Security Benefits only

I found out the hard way that there was a court order for a levy on my bank account from this collection agency. I never received anything in writing from the court or the collection agency. My bank which is BB&T honored the freeze on my account and gave me the phone number to Results Unlimited. I tolf them I am on Social Security Benefits and that is my only source of income. I even faxed over copies of my bank statement. That didn't do any good. They agreed only to release the levy if I signed over all my funds in my savings and checking account that was in my account prior to the freeze. I contacted the Stafford County Court and they said the only way I could file for an exemption on my bank account is if I appeared in person in court. This is impossible, I reside in Alabama and have for the past 9 months. I did fax over the paper work for the exemption with documentation of social security benefits, but this may be useless. This whole situation escalated from moving out of an apartment when the co-tenant remained at the place of residence. At this current point in time I have zero funds, I couldn't even hire an attorney if I wanted to. I had to call social security to stop them from making anymore direct deposits. This is quite a nuisance. Laws state that social security benefits are exempt from most type of collections, including this type. Why does it seem like there is little regard or enforcement of this law? Searching the internet I have found that many people have been victims of this type of practice. If there is someone out there that can help, please help. If not I just want others to be aware that their social security benefits are not safe from collection companies. I have filed a complaint with the better business bureau, wrote a letter to the Inspector General of the Social Security Administration, and have sent many other complaint to the state legislation in Virginia. Hopefully that will get me somewhere, if not it may help others.
