Nicor charged me for my tennants gas. I had a lease for a property I rented for 2 years. Utilities were to be in tennants name. They paid there bill and I never thought there would be a problem. I called to change the name on the account back to my name as of Dec 1. After I returned their security deposit, I got a bill with my name spelled wrong, for Nov 22 through Dec 1. I called Nicor and they said someone called in with a Nov 22 shut off date. That can't be true since the bill said Nov 22 was an estimated read and Dec 1 said final read. The tennants didn't pay the last bill of $100.79 so Nicor billed me because it is my property, and I pay my bill for my house on time every month! I continued paying on that bill (Less the $100.79) while I kept disputing this with Nicor. They kept insisting I have to pay. Well I didn't because it was not my account at the time, and I didn't think they could just put my name on someone elses bill. Silly me, now its on my credit report.
