Contracted Moving Seagull to deliver my belongings from Texas to NJ. Moving Seagull does not use their own trucks - Red Flag number 1. They take all of your belongings (ex-offenders are hired for this task) and store them at some local mom & pop storage facility. They ask for a down payment (contract says 40%, but you end up paying more like 50%. Additionally you have paid a deposit which apparently goes to Anthem Claim Management in AZ (another flaky company).
So, anyway - Moving Seagull had to come back 2 more times to actually move my contents out of my house to sit in a storage facility. All of my belongings sat in a storage facility for ~1 month as Moving Seagull tried to find a secondary contractor/moving Company with a Semi that was heading to the Northeast.
This company was Jordan River. We had paid for a complete service, but when Jordan River arrived, Jordan River said that they were not Moving Seagull, so they were only going to bring the boxes into the house and not help unpack. The packing that Moving Seagull had done was done poorly, but hey ex-cons aren't necessarily excellent packers.
Anyway, Jordan River wanted cash money to cover the balance of the move (~3400.00) and mind you Jordan River arrived at 2AM the day before Labor Day. The next morning, we realized that only half of our belongings had arrived. So we called Moving Seagull, Johnny or John (by the way with no last names) said they don't know of any other items and that that was my entire shipment. So, I reversed the charge of 1080.00 on my credit card, and within 2 weeks, Moving Seagull had magically located the other half of my belongings at the same storage place. Of course they had to wait for another moving company with an actual Semi to complete the move.
This time it was Mid-Moving a company from Chicago that delivered the remaining boxes. Of course they wanted 730.00 for the delivery, cash money. This was in lieu of charging back the 1080.00. So, we thought that the horror story was over, but nay nay, Moving Seagull did not inform Anthem Management of this resolution, so a month later Anthem Management with Robin Ware charges the 1080 back to my account and says that Moving Seagull never told him about the cashiers check, so that is that. Please don't choose Moving Seagull - the price they originally quoted was 4000.00. The price we paid was 9080.00!
Many of our furniture pieces were ruined, and half of the order did not arrive until after 90 days. The First part of the order arrived an entire month later. That is a lot of hotel and eating out cost associated with it as well - not to mention that they did not even supply / have their own semi trucks to make the move. Finally, they are not a company of their word. They still owe me the $1080.00. Go with someone else.
