Highway Moving
Held Household Goods Hostage for $3,500 more than agreed price - police, Department of Interstate Commerce, BBB did nothing, no one can help-you will have to pay

The professional website led us to believe this was a good moving company. We were quoted a price to move based on weight and full-packing service (about $3,500).

The day of our move, they showed up at 4pm which means they were not done packing until around midnight. Then they held our goods hostage until we paid an additional $3,500 and still never produced a weight ticket. That means we paid $7,000 for this move.

I contacted every resource - police, BBB, dept of commerce, etc - whatever was listed on the NC Attorney General's website. No one could do anything - we had to pay the money or not get our possessions.

If you ever move, ALWAYS get a "Do not exceed" quote written on the contract - even if this company gets shut down, they can open quickly under another name and still rip people off. The owners name is Anna Kovenski (or something like that - the first is Anna though) and her dispatcher is Leo. I think their website doesn't work anymore so they may have already changed their business name.
