I received an unknown phone call from a lady. She sounded all sweet and nice asking me about my time at college, my major, and everything. She told me that I was a preferred mastercard customer and that I have been entered in a sweepstakes to win a million dollars. I thought "what's the worst that could happen" and accepted it. She said ok and told me to expect a call from her advisor to hear the details. He talked to me and I was half-listening the whole time. He talked about the gold diamond watch and then complimentary magazines and for me to pay a certain amount each week, but they pay by 3 month segments. He then asked for my card number. I was so stupid and believed all the casual, nice things he said and gave it to him.
After I got off the phone, I realized I didn't know too much what I was getting myself into and regretted making the decision of giving him my card number. Through that day and the next few days, I was getting phone calls from an unknown number and I knew it was them, but then I got a phone call from a 406 number and it was them. It was so strange for them to call from an unknown number and them switch.
I finally picked up and said hello, but half the time I answered the call it was like a machine or it just hung up on me. Finally, when I picked up while I was out eating with a friend a man responded. I told him that I wished to cancel and I did not want the magazines and he would not let me cancel. I did not even know that was even aloud. I told him I did not want the magazines subscriptions and wished to unsubscribed right at that moment and still he would not allow it. To add to that, he was being a jerk about. My friend talked to him about it to and he was so rude and was being very unpleasant and unfriendly to her. She was about to ask him for his number so that we can call him back, but then he hung up. They provided me with no number and it did not show up on caller ID, so this was already sketchy to begin with.
Now I am just so upset and have no idea what to do about it. I called up my bank right away and asked them what to do. They said that I should close my debit card, that way they can't get ahold of anymore money of mine. I just want them to stop calling me and I don't think this is going to stop. This has got to stop though. It is ridiculous how stupid I was to listen to their crap and fall for it. It is such a scam and they should be put out of whatever scamming business they are in.
