Late charges on backordered item

My 80 year-old mother, who had been a Blair customer for years, ordered some items from Blair. One of the items was back-ordered, by the time the item was delivered my Mother's colon cancer had come back and my Mother had to have surgery to have her colon removed. My Mother thought she had paid for the item already, this was not the case.

I contacted Blair to explain the situation and I paid for the item out of my own bank account to avoid having my Mother get upset thinking she had not paid for something "on time" as was her habit (she pays the "full" amount when she gets her bills". I requested that the late fees be waived due to extenuating circumstances and Blair said they would not help me. I contacted WFCB who took over the credit processing that had previously been done directly by Blair, and they would not waive the late fees either.

Now the late fees are more than the original purchase price of the item that was back-ordered!

I told WFCB that I could provide documented proof that my Mother had cancer and had been hospitalized (i.E., I was not making up a story), and they still would not waive the late fees!

Needless to say, my Mother will NOT be ordering from Blair again if I can prevent it! I immediately "recycle" their catalogs we receive via the U.S. Mail. My recommendation to anyone who orders from Blair is to cancel any items that are "back-ordered", which happens frequently with Blair, to avoid this situation.
