My wife and I went to the American Pupppy Club in Middletown to purchase a puppy on several successive Sundays and found a wheaton terrier that was very nice. When asked the price, we were told it was $2649, an amount that took our breath away and as we started to leave indicated the the most we would even consider spending for such a dog was 800 dollars.
The sales person cam back with another price after "speaking to the breeder" which was now reduced to $1300 dollars. We again indicated this was too much and we were very saddened because thie puppy was affectionate and the exact kind of dog we wanted.
As we were leaving, the sales person once again again proposed a new one time out of the door "special for $1000" dollars and indicated a special price for a cage and other puppy food required for the dog. The pricing on these also seemed high as we had just been to PetsMart and knew of reasonable prices for therse things.
It seemed like we were dealing with used car salesmen.
We discussed this at great length and decided that we did not feel confident in the company and left without the puppy.
This was not a good experience.
