In early November I wanted to get a Yorkshire terrier puppy. I saw their add in the paper and went to the store on a Sunday afternoon. I had a choice of 3 puppies and the first one I saw was about 12 weeks old and I asked how much the puppy was. The girl scanned the neck of the puppy and told me she had to check the paperwork because the puppies are all different prices according to the "blood line" of the puppy. So she comes back and tells me the puppy is $2200. I was shocked, especially since the add said that the puppies start at $199 & up. I said no thanks, how much is this one, she checks again and it is $1800. I really wanted this puppy because he was too cute! So I told her the price is too high. She said she can throw in a free cage, and I still declined. She offered $1600, then $1400 then a final price of $1200. So I accept the offer and they give me a speach on how to take care of the puppy. However the crate training where you can only play with the dog for a couple hours then lock him up for the rest of the time... RIDICULOUS!!! So I go home and I call my mom to tell her I got a puppy and she asks where... So I tell her and she was so mad, because she knew those puppies come from puppy mills. Apparently the internet sites who sell puppies and the pet stores all sell puppymill puppies. The maximum amount they pay for a puppy is 250$. So I do some research a couple days later on the internet about this place and I saw so many horrible reports about this place! A few days later my puppy is sick, he had green/yellow sticky mucus coming out of his nostrils and his eyes were very watery. He was always so tired and I felt so bad, I felt helpless for this little puppy that was so much apart of my life. So I take him to the vet, just a mile from American Puppy Club, the vet tells me he has a cold and it may develop into pneumonia. If he didn't get better after taking the medicine then to bring him in for blood work. So I go to APC since they are so close and I have a few words with a girl in there. I asked her why they told me my dog came from a top breeder and not from a puppy mill. I told them he is from the Hunte Corporation, which is one of the biggest puppymills in the mid west. She denies it and wants me to go to the back room so we can "talk". With all the people there wanting to buy a dog, it was my chance to get rid of buyers. I refused and told her how it was and the results of my dog being sick. She told me I can "return" him. I looked at her with such disgust and asked her "do you think he is a pair of pants that I would just return him?" So looked at me dumbfounded and I told her I will keep the dog, but I will do all I can to make sure everyone knows about this place. People need to realize when we buy a puppy from these places we are giving the OK for them to breed the mother over and over until she is no good to them, where she will die, be put down or given to the ASPCA. If I hadn't gotten so attached to my puppy I would not have kept him, but I could not do that to him. It's not his fault that he came from such a horrible place. So when I first bought him and they told me to keep him locked up expect for a couple hours... Well that thought came back to me and do thetse people have no shame or guilt about what they do to these puppies? They are born in a cage then shipped across country in a cage and lives in a cage until someone buys it. How cruel is it for that puppy to have to still live in the cage? That is no life for any animal and it makes me sick to my stomach. So I was lied to about where the puppy came from and I bought a $200 puppy for $1200. I only wish that I would have read about this place before I even went there! I have learned alot though. So fortunetly for me my puppy got better and is doing well. He is my life and the most wonderful companion, but it still saddens me to think what a horrible life he had before he came to me. All those poor puppies living such a horrible life just so someone can make a quick buck.
