False promises misleading advertising no recourse

Annuity Solutions, Inc., operated by Alan Scott, promises to provide annuity producers with preset appointments with qualified, screened prospects. They charge $1,625.00, or more, for 25 appointments which result in a complete in-home presentation. They promise to "replace" any sets which do not end in a presentation. After many years in this business, this seemed like a great find, and at $65 per complete appointment, reasonably priced. Of course, they collect the money up front.

Here is my experience after seven weeks. They have set 18 appointments for me, never more than one a day. NONE of these have led to a presentation.in fact, I have only stepped foot into one of these 18 homes, and that "qualified" prospect was broke, financially dependant on her adult sons. Of the rest, HALF (9 of 18) were not home at the appointed time. Five of the others denied ever receiving a call or making an appointment. It should be noted that these appointments are set less than 24 hours in advance. Two were one-leggers, one of which they set knowing the husband was going to out of town. Now, true to their word, these will all be "replaced", but after seven weeks I have nothing to show for my money or time.

Not surprisingly, Annuity Solutions has a strict no refund policy.

Until recently, they displayed the Better Business Bureau logo on their web site, but they were not members, and this has been removed. After paying them, unfortunately, I clicked on the logo and found a very damning review of the company, which once they discovered it I'm sure played a role in removing the logo. This reviewer said he was unable to discover evidence of licensing for the agents who offered testimonials on the website. I did my own research on this topic, and confirmed it to be true, except for an agent in Atlanta, who was the only reference Alan Scott would provide me a phone number for when I was considering doing business with them.

While I was being courted as a client, Alan Scott sent me an e-mail telling me they had recently done a mailing in my area and had 190 screened senior prospects waiting for appointments. When I later read the negative review through the BBB, that agent said he had received a nearly identical e-mail from Alan Scott. My question is, if they indeed have these people waiting, why can't they get a single worthwhile appointment set in seven weeks?

When his company's practices or effectiveness are called into question, Mr. Scott becomes hostile, agitated and confrontational, or he just ignores you. There is no recourse, and no opportunity for dialogue. At best, he tells you to put it in you weekly report, submitted via the website, and he "will deal with it." This is a load of crap.

The only recourse would be for me to sue him in small claims court, but since he is in California and I am in Oklahoma, my costs incurred would be more than I've already dropped into this pit.

My advice is stay away from annuity solutions, inc. And alan scott.
