The Empty Canoe - Mike And Kristina Canu
The Empty Canoe did not deliver according to the contract terms and never returned my personal information Oak Harbo

I started to work with "The Empty Canoe" in December when I contracted them to ghostwrite and publish my book project regarding my memoires.

I was working with their Project manager for almost one year and everything seemed good and within the agreed timeline. Late in 2005 the Project Manager was fired and everything took a turn to its worst. The sceleton script was never finished and whatever was in existence was a simple cut and paste of my notes I had delivered to them. The communication was dragging and there was just no Customer Service whatsoever. I told them that I wanted to quit working with them in May but they talked me into staying and promised me to find a suitable writer within the following four weeks in 2006.

I left on vacation for four weeks in June. When I came back nothing had been done. There was no communication anymore. I dealt with Kristina Canu a pathetic woman with no people skills and I also spoke to Mike Canu but other then excuses I got nothing more out of them. I was chasing them for over four weeks but with no success.

In August it was clear that something was wrong. No more communication, returned E-mails and disconnected telephone numbers.
The Cell phone from Kristina Kanu was not disconnected yet but of course nobody returned my calls.

I involved a lawyer. We sent registered letters to the address in Oak Harbor but they came back with the remark "moved without leaving forwarding address."

They did not return my personal information delivered to them over the previous two years when I was working with them, including many pictures and copies of newspaper clips. All this fell under the contract / confidentiality agreement I had signed with them before we started.

I pre-paid the ghostwriting and publishing fee of $ 4.500.— already in 2004 but in 2006 it was clear to me that I was a victim of fraud.

I contacted the Better Business Bureau in Washington and also traced the telephone numbers of The Empty Canoe and Mike Canu online. All I found out was that these people were originally from Colorado.

Even though all this took place more than one year ago I am still willing to do something about it.

I am sad that there are people out there with such dishonest intentions and hope that justice will prevail.
