I had the unfortunate experience to sign up with Great Expectations... But I don't believe that I was badly burned as many others. I really appreciate being able to read the reports here during my three day grace period.ca does have some good laws, but they are not great.

I also ran a copy of my own credit to determine if Great Expectations ran mine. Guess what, they did... And the price was not talked about until after a suspicious intercom phone call. I found this link describing the acceptable usage laws of the credit report. It is US Code Collection, title 15, chapter 41, subchapter III, 1681b

If after reading you believe that they improperly used your credit report, then one can file a complaint with the FTC. I have been informed that the FTC will not act on individual complaints, but if enough of them get registered, then they will act. These complaints also may or may not be passed on to law enforcement. I just put the company name in where the person goes, and explained the situation. I figured that I am not a lawyer, but they are and they can decide if the actions were incorrect. Doing nothing does nothing. Doing something may help others. Link to the FTC.

The Conn. Website shows that they have offices in other states on the Eastern side of this great country. You can check there to see if their case would cover you. They also may want your info, even if they cannot help you, because it may help others.
