I am a 51 year old divorced, single mom, who has been out of the dating scene forever. Raising my 2 girls has taken my time and they have been my life. We all thought it was time to start taking care of me now, so I found this, "so-called" Great Christian on-line dating service. They contacted me and set up a time and day to come in and meet with someone to see if I was interested in their services.
When I first got there, they seemed really nice. My daughter and her friend went with me for support. I went back into a room with their representative and the girls waited in the waiting area. She told me and asked me the things she was suppose to say, and then she started talking money. I depend on my daughter alot for money making decisions, due to she is good at that.
I asked if I could have my daughter come back, so I could talk it over with her to see if she thought it was a good deal. She said that she didn't know where the girls went and I needed to make a decision now. I felt really pressured. I found out later, that the girls were put in this little room, where it was really hot and they said they had to stay in there. They wouldn't even let them stay in the waiting area.
I did sign the contract because I felt pressured. They set up a photo shoot and video date and time. I called back to try and cancel the membership, but they said it was too late after the deadline to cancel. The contract called for me to pay $2,390.00. This is for the video, photo shoot, on-line services, etc.
I had canceled my video and photo shoot and tried to cancel and when they said I was too late they said that my first payment would be due August 1st 2007. The photo and video would have to be rescheduled. The day I sent my payment in, my daughter was on-line and decided to check things out. She found that there are people out there that have been scammed by this company.
When I got off work the following night, she went to the website and showed me where people have gotten scammed by this company. She thought I was really going to be devastated by this. I am very upset about this due to this company is supposed to be a Christian Organization and they do this to people. That is not the way the Lord works!
I am a waitress in a restaurant and have 2 kids and myself to support, and do not have money to waste. I regret even getting involved with this company, but I was trying to get a date on another web-site, but found out about a murderer on that site. I thought a Christian Organization would have better clients, so I checked the site out.
Great Expectations said they do background checks, and what I found on the internet was not good. Ladies were being paired up with guys who wanted sex from them and representatives were putting clients down and telling them the reasons they can't get dates. That's not right! You don't put people down, your supposed to lift people up when you're a Christian!
I feel like a fool for signing the contract and not going with my instincts that were telling me not to sign. I just felt really pressured and thought I'd embarrass myself if I didn't sign.
So I'm writing to find out if there is any help out there to get out of my contract, get the money back I've already wasted on their service, avoid paying for the rest of my contract or future monies that they may try and charge or collect from me, and to find a way to shut these praying scam artists down!!!
