I worked for Covenant for eleven months. They tried to run me illegally. I can't prove that because they never said I had to run illegally. Just that they needed the load to get there. I rarely got 8 hours of sleep. Then I decided not to risk my life and others by taking caffeine drinks and driving more hours than I legally should. I tried to get them to swap out loads. They would not. I told them I was tired. They suggested I take vitamins. I was constantly threatened with being fired. I sucked it up because I wanted to purchase a house and didn't want to change jobs.
Then on 17 July, as I was driving in Florida (On time and feeling fine!), I got a message to deliver my load early. I had already been on the road nine hours and had planned to park soon. The load delivered 3 pm the next day. I drove maybe another 30 minutes and parked at a rest area. The next day I was fired. But, they wanted me to pick up another load and deliver it to Chattanooga first!!! I picked up the load in hopes of changing their minds. No such luck. I was told to bring the load to Chattanooga and they would accept my resignation. Wait a minute! I didn't resign! I was fired!
I took their load home as I did not have the funds to returm myself, my property, and my dog home. I sent them a message as to the location of their truck. Today, I received a letter stating that I had quit. God knows what is on my DAC report.
I think I did my best and took a lot of bull. I also think I will never drive again.
