Kennel cough, giardia, the list goes on-
I made a grave judgement in error when i stopped by 'puppy lovers' in skokie on a day when i felt amiss. I was given the chance to hold almost every dog in the store (but with each time, the floor was swept with bleach) i thought - how clean! But little did i know.
$1250.00 later, i had fallen desperatley in love with a cockapoo. I could not beleive how "mild mannered" he was. The sales lady just smiled and said "yes - he seems to be". Literally, the moment i got him in the car he started to wheez and cough. Perhaps his cough med's wore off. But still i thought, i paid alot for this dog, i must clearly be overreacting.
Long story short - took him to the vet - he got a clean bill of health, worms came back neg. Took him 2 days later to the vet - kennel cough - 10 days of antibiotics.
Figured - this is a part of dog owner ship. Took him back to the vet - giardia. Worms. Can be passed to humans. Excuse me?
Called the shop owner after the first episode - she was reluctant to do anything other than border the dog and fix his "problem". The temperment problems started. He growled at anything.
My advice is - please don't buy a dog from a pet shop
