Beware: Vonage is keeping money from customers under the guise of "government taxes". I signed up for service with Vonage and cancelled the account w/in 48 hours, due to being mislead on several different issues. My account was credited everything BUT $2.16. When I questioned Vonage about this money, I was told that this was government taxes and could not be refunded. This is a total lie and although it's a small amount, can add up!
I have no less than 54 e-mail correspondances from start to finish with Vonage, not to mention several phone calls.
I did finally get the money refunded, but ONLY after I mentioned the clear-as-day issue that taxes on a service that was NEVER used could not be retained, not even by the government.
Just want to get a warning out there to anyone else getting the run-around from Vonage! You are entitled to ALL of your refund if you have not used the service. Refuse any boxes sent to you; do not sign for anything. I refused a box sent via DHL, and Vonage tried to tell me that once a package is refused, they can't track it. Huh? This is another line of crap. The shipping number does NOT change just because I didn't accept it. It goes back to the DHL warehouse and is returned. This is just another ploy of Vonage's, to hold on to the money a little bit longer.
The customer service throughout this enire issue is about the worst I have ever experienced. Please, anyone thinking about going with Vonage - please beware - I asked very specific questions, and the answers were not true. Hence, I canceleed the service.
I have no doubt that people are cancelling due to the same idiotic issues I dealt with and their money is being withheld.
Do not let Vonage rip you off!
