AT & T Wireless
Contracted for a plan for 2 years - violated agreed terms after 1 month. False promises

Here is an email I sent July 23 via AT & T website describing situation: "I had been an AT&T wireless customer for about 2 years and my original contract had expired when, in approximately March of this year I responded to an ad campaign AT&T was running at the time.

At an AT&T sales office in Orange California I agreed to a two year contract and was to receive for $49.99 a month: 600 anytime minutes PLUS 3000 Evening & weekend minutes, Free long distance for calls made within my dialing area AND 50% more anytime minutes for the entire contract period. (For a total of 900 minutes anytime)

After exceeding my 900 plan minutes in April-May I called customer service on or around June 1 and changed my plan to the following: $69.95 for 800 minutes anytime with 50% bonus anytime minutes for the term for a total of 1200 anytime minutes. I was told I could not keep the 3000 nights & weekends and I willingly gave them up.

My next bill reflects that plan as I accepted at that time. Today July 23rd I called customer service and was told that yes I had been sold that plan but that the agent made a mistake (1) or that plan was no longer valid (2) and that my plan was 800 minutes anytime and 3000 minutes nights and weekends. I noted online that my current bill reflects this change and I am being charged tolls for calls over 800 minutes.

As far as I am concerned you have violated the terms you agreed to. I was offered 1000 minutes and 3000 nighrs and weekend minutes today by your customer service rep and a supervisor OR I could cancel my contract without penalty. I use my phone for business and it would be a tremendous expense and inconvenience to change.

After pleading my case on moral & ethical grounds and having my arguments fall on deaf ears, I elected to accept neither option at the time. I notice that my plan date has been changed to July 24 on your online site. Did your customer service perhaps misunderstand me when I said NO to either option. I want 1200 minutes anytime NO nights and evenings for $69.95 as you agreed with free long distance from my calling area.

IN lieu of that I want credit for the last billing period to reflect the same terms on the previos months invoicing (800 plus 50% anytime = 1200 minutes) and I want to cancel my contract with AT & T with no obligation as offered by your people today. I am sending a copy of this correspondance to your Corporate Resolution Group as well. Thank you."
