Destroyed TV, Entertainment Center, Antique Dishes, other goods and refused to reimburse in any way, ripoff

When my family moved from Pennsylvania to Wisconsin, we chose Don Farr Moving & Storage to move our stuff to the new place. I'll spare you the typical rant on the unprofessional nature of the movers themselves, and get right to the damage to my goods.

When my stuff arrived, my TV was broken. My wood entertainment center was broken. An antique dish was broken, despite the fact it was well packed with bubble wrap in a box with other dishes. And not just broken, it was smashed into so many little pieces we have no idea what dish it even was. Other little things we cared less about were broken as well: a piggy bank, a big plastic tub with lid that we used for our daughter's toys actually had a huge hole ripped in the lid as if something very heavy was placed on it and tore through.

We filed an insurance claim with them over the first three items, the ones that were actually costing us serious money. They told us it would take up to 6 months to handle the claim. Well, during that 6 months the dodged phone calls, played games with us. At one point, they told us the person we wanted to talk to would be in the office soon and to call back. No one answered the phone there the rest of the day.

After 6 months, they finally sent us a letter saying that we failed to prove that any of the damage was their fault.in fact, their letter stated that they could not be held responsible for anything we personally packed in boxes, no matter how well we packed it. They said since the TV had no signs out outward damage, it was not their fault. TVs just break during moves. And they said the entertainment center's damage was not their responsibility because that was waived in the contract we signed because it is made of pressed wood. They also said that since we did not give them proof of damaged boxes (something they never told us about during our many attempts to communicate with them), there was no proof that they personally damaged anything at all.

Now, they could have told us all that stuff right away. It doesn't take 6 months to make those kinds of decisions. THey purposely dragged it out to that any physical evidence we would have would long since be gone.

Simply put, if you plan to use their moving company, you better not ship your TVs, computers, or anything else eletronic with them. I have written documentation saying they refuse to cover damages to that stuff because they often "fail for no apparent reason." Don't expect your entertainment center or other pressed wood furniture to survive, or be reimbursed if it doesn't. And for god's sake, don't pack anything in a box yourself because apparently, that voids all liability.
