First of all, I cant believe Im filing this report right now, because not 4 hours ago, I was sitting in the office of these people, and I come home, still not sure about the company. I searched the name Larry Hahn because the branch manager (Cho Vang) said that he was a big name guy that was in all kinds of magazines such as Cosmo, Vogue, Ebony, Elle, etc. So I figured it wouldnt be hard to find something on him... I got directed to this site immediately.
The name of the company that interviewed me was Charisma Management. I've been reading up on this "scam" that everyone else has experienced, and evidently the company used to be called Scentura. They did not use this name at all while we were all there, but they did mention WMI (Wholesale Merchandise Industry).
According to Cho, Larry Hahn founded the company 30 years ago, was worth over $300 Million and could afford to take the entire company (nationwide) to Las Vegas for a big awards corporate reunion type thing. However, I have not seen one thing about Larry Hahn (the millionaire)... I've seen Larry Hahn (the scam artist).
I responded to an ad in the local paper that said "entry level management for Charisma Management call..." so I called to inquire about the company, and they immediately set up an interview with me for later that afternoon. When I went for the interview, Cho interviewed me along with three other girls, and told us that he'd call us by 5:30 that evening if he had decided to move us forward for a second interview the following week. I got the call.
I came in the following week (today) and along with 5 other people, proceded to have a "group interview" where Cho would go into detail about what it is that we would be doing... However, he never really said exactly what we would be doing... Just that we would be going through a 6-8 week training period and we wouldnt sign the contract until after the training was complete.
The longer this meeting went on, the more skeptical I got. I wish now, that I had the phone numbers of the others that were in there with me so I could call them and warn them about what Im reading here today. Hopefully they did the same thing as me, and came home to research the commpany immediately. From what I have been reading, this company is a COMPLETE SCAM.
They will play loud music during the interview to give you a feel that it is fun place to work, they even had picture collages up in the meeting room we were in that depicted some wild party type behavior, that didnt seem very appropriate for a professional environment. Also, Cho went on about how he liked to drink and party and how he had been in and out of jail his whole life, which again, is not very appropriate for a professional environment...
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE beware of this situation! These people will have you selling fake perfume out of the trunk of your car, not making any money. Whatever you do, if you have gotten to the second interview stage... Do not go back for training!!!
