More than a year after the service was canceled and final payment made, I was contacted by a collection agency who purchased a fictional amount due.
I signed up for a year service. The service was adequate (though not effective) but the billing was confusing. Turned out they my address incorrect on the bills. As a result, I became late and rather than perform the next scheduled service they left a message saying it would not occur.
I was insulted by how they handled this, paid the bill and called to cancel the service. I called back on 7/13/05 to cancel my contract and make my final payment (for the service that wasn't to occur as I hired another company in the meantime). I paid the amount provided as the final payment which was cleared by Wells Fargo bill pay on 7/18/05.
I did not hear from them again until I received a letter from a collections agency 1 year later stating that I owed them money. I was surprised by this and having spent much time trying to resolve this issue with both the company and the collections agency was unable to resolve this. I asked for and they sent invoices which were incomplete and confusing. Bottom line, I do not owe them money and due to poor record keeping am being harassed and blackmailed to pay an invoice with the threat of failure to do so being reported to the credit agencies.
They have been rude and insulting and unable (or unwilling) to provide the documentation (invoices) that would allow me to demonstrate that I paid for all services rendered.
