Ripoff Charges for movies when no one is at home

I am amazed at Mediacom's lack of customer service skills. I recently called because I did not get a bill in the mail this past month. I had looked at my bill online and saw several pay-per-view charges. 3 of the charges were for movies that my husband and I had ordered at $3.99 each. There was a charge for an adult movie at $11.99. The "customer service representative" said the movie was ordered on Mon. February 6 @ 9:27 AM. I am an independent consultant and checked my schedule book. I left my house sometime between 9:15 and 9:30 AM to meet with my first client that day. My husband was gone for work by 6:30 AM. I explained this and she insisted that I was lying and someone was in my home and ordered that movie from the remote. I said that maybe one of the dogs walked on the remote and pushed the button, and she rudely responded "It takes several steps to order it, the dog couldn't have done it." I said that the only other possibility is that someone broke into my house, didn't steal anything and sat on my couch and ordered an adult movie. I finally said that I was going to discuss with my husband shutting off our service and using satellite because I didn't want to continue to be charged for adult movies that we are NOT ordering. I asked what I needed to do in order to disconnect my service. She replied smugly, "just need a 7 day notice." Some customer service! They are going to lose a $130 per month customer over a $12 movie charge.

Since it was Sunday, I decided to call back the next day. I went through the same situation, only this woman was a little more polite. I asked to speak to a supervisor and she said the same things. She actually looked at the past history of my account and said that other adult movies charged to my account at similar times in the morning (again, when NO ONE is at my home). We order pay per view movies all the time (the $3.99 kind), but it is ridiculous that we are charged for movies while we are at work. She was not the least bit upset or cooperative when I said I would be calling back to cancel my service as soon as I got the satellite set up.

We already had satellite service, so it was nothing to add a couple more receivers and add the local channels and they are coming to do that within the week. I called to cancel my cable with Mediacom, and unfortunately, there is no other high speed internet in my area, so I can't cancel the internet yet. As others who have posted here, I am being charged $10 more a month for internet because I will no longer have cable. I told them I would call back to cancel my internet as soon as I found a new internet service provider. They weren't too upset about that either. They obviously don't care about their customers AT ALL!
