I went to the "free" credit report website in January and not only did I never see my credit report, but $12.95 was taken directly from my account on February 17. It appeared on my online statement like this: CVC*TRIPLEADVANTAGE
I had no idea what this charge was, so I looked the company up online to find out this had happened to others and that it is a scam.
I called the number 877-481-6826 that was given by another consumer from this site. When I called, the representative told me I was a member and it would benefit me to continue my membership.
I told him over and over that I wanted to cancel my membership. He stated that I should wait until March 7th or 8th (2 days before they take the next payment) to cancel my account. And that I would have to enter the website again to do so.
I persisted, saying that I was not going back to the site and that there was no reason why he couldn't cancel it for me. Finally, he said that he would cancel my membership. I was given a confirmation number and email stating that there will be no further charges from my card. I won't know if this is resolved until next month.
