I received my SBC phone bill on 2-9 and there was a charge for $40.00 made to a 900 number called. I immediately called "The Billing Resource" and asked what this number was. They told me it was a small software program downloaded to my computer for online games, video, photo and chat rooms. I told them that I was at work when this so called download was authorized. After a long conversation with the gentleman on the phone, my charges were credited for the Januray bill.
I investigated the phone number by entering it in the Google search bar. I found this website with postings of others who had been ripped off by this company. So, I decided to call my local phone company and report them. I also asked to have all 900 numbers blocked. The phone company did put a block on my phone, but informed me that because my internet is through the cable company, it would not stop the call from being charged to my phone bill.By now, I have been on the phone for over an hour trying to find someone to help me stop this from happening again. The phone company told me to call my cable company.
I called the cable company only to be told it is a spyware/adware problem and that they do not deal with these situations. So, I decided to call the Public Utilities Commision. Of course, they were already closed for the day. I am calling them tomorrow and report this company. I am also calling my local news station who loves to expose companies like Atlantic Mgmt.
