Like many reports I have read here I too have been scamed. I went to the site recomended by my local TV news and signed up for a free report. I chose a different company but ended up getting a report from Experian. I did not authorize any deductions from my accout nor did I sign up for any free trials that woould automatically start charging at the end of the free trial period.
I found on my bank statement a charge for $8.95 that I knew nothinjg about. I spent several hours trying to find the company on line to get this straightened out. That is how I found this site. After reading several reports I tried the 800 Number and pressed 1 for cancelation and I did get a real person.
The lady first asked for my card Number and I told her I would not give it to her as that is obviously how I got into this in the first place. I told her I would give the information posted on my statement. She said that wouldn't work. Then she asked for my SSN, and again I refused and told her I would give her my name and the info on my statement. Low and behold she found my acount.
Asked the security questions like last four of social. And then told me that I had to of signed up for the free 30 day trial at thier site. I told her I did not, and that even now I was unable to find thier site. She insisted that I had to of because that was the only way to be signed up for thier services. I again told her that I never went past the Experian site and that I had askedfor was my free credit report.
Finally she said that the account was closed and I would recieve no more bills, But that I could still access the site till the 14th and continue to use thier services. I told her I had never used thier services and still could not find thier site. I consider my self fortunate thatall I have lost is $8.95 as I have seen here that some are fighting to get a lot more back.
We will see what happens, if they really do close the account or charge me again next month. I will let you know. Just know though that they can access your account with just your name and birth date and a confirmation of your last four in your ssn. Though they won't admitt to it unless you push them.
