On September 16th I called Ledbetter's Electrical Service to get an estimate on some electrical work I needed done. I had a lengthy conversation with his wife and she said they would probably be able to come over that night. I thought that was good service. Unfortunately, the price I was given was very high and *could* be much higher. I was never given an actual price for the work. Possible time involved and whatever materials were the "quote." The end price could have been *twice* the "time" price. I didn't want to hire someone who couldn't give me a price closer to what the actual fee would be.
Two weeks later this man showed up at my door with a bill for the estimate. He claimed he didn't give free estimates! Nobody told me this or he wouldn't have been at my house. He said he didn't see how I wasn't told but I wasn't. It cost me $65 to have this rip off artist give me an estimate.
To make it worse, his bill says the estimate was $1800. What I was actually told was time would probably be approximately $1000 and then materials *could* bring it up to over $2000. I was never given an actual estimate.
I can imagine he makes a lot of money doing this because he gives a high cost and, of course, many won't use him. Then he gets $65 for doing nothing!
What a total rip off!!!
