I joined the club earlier this year and one of the DVD's I ordered in the intitial set up was unavailable. I was sent a raincheck that states..."This certificate is good for any single selection on DVD except set, special deluxe editions and specially marked selections. This certificate may not be used as payment for any selection already charged to your account."
So, I was kind of bummed, but decided to look for a movie to send in. I also Have the original letter I recieved the rain check in that states I am entitled to "ANY club selection priced up to $21.95 (excluding sets). I ended up choosing "Meet the Fockers" listed as $19.95 on the website with no special asterik by it indicating it cannot be purchased.
My rain check was sent back to me and I was advised I had to choose another selection. As one will figure out if they join, there is not a vast selection of movies that are appealing to all audiences, and most are discounted just enough so that they don't count toward your obligation. Either way, I was upset as I had followed the guidlines of what I had and do have in writing.
After much correspondence, I have had every rep refuse to honor this rain check, even though I have offered to fax a copy of what I have in writing stating that I can. I spoke to supervisor who hung up on me when I asked to speak to someone who could help me, as not one person listened to the problem at hand.
Now, this issue has escalated, as what kind of rep would hang up on a PAYING customer, let alone a supervisor. NO ONE will give me a number to contact their corporate office regarding my service. All of this because the DVD I was originally promised, wasn't in stock due to their discrepancy.
Columbia house is a rip off. They make it nearly impossible to meet your obligations, as I stated previously, and they treat their customers with disrespect and with not one once of integrity to uphold their end of the deal.
