Lois Stevens sold me a female Miniature Australian Shepherd puppy (DaeCee aka Dace) on March 10. The pup was shipped to me on April 5 with the understanding her NSDR paperwork and 3-7 generation pedigree would be with her upon arrival. There were NO papers resembling either upon arrival. Only a piece of paper listing shots and wormings and a number along side of the supposed daddy.
She was taken to the vet 4-6-05 for a check up and was puking up round worms. Lois claimed at first she didn't know what was wrong and to let her know how it goes. She calls back and admitted to not having wormed her enough. (My vet took care of Dace, she's fine now.) The pup was micro-chipped before she was shipped. Lois claimed it WAS activated, just had to be turned over to my name. Not true. I did everything. She was mis-informed on this.
I asked where the papers were. Oops she forgot to send them. They're beside her on her table. Days go by, still no papers. I call and email her my concern. Gave her one week to get the paperwork and an original guarantee (only had one SHE signed and emailed, no original signature nor mine on anything.) to me.
I asked her what the numbers were on the paper that came with Dace. No reply. Of COURSE I had emailed everyone and their dog trying to find out whose numbers they were. I knew whose they weren't. I messed up and thought she was MASCA, Lois corrected me said they were ACA and APRI (could be), then she messed up again and said the numbers were NSDR (not true).in the meantime she also wrote me being very upset that I had asked around about the numbers. (It later came out that the dog listed on the paper was not DaeCees dad at all.)
I told Lois I knew about her BBB listings. She had excuses for those as well.
Come to find out, my pups daddy was never NSDR'd. Lois said she recieved a confirmation email that the paperwork was being processed. (keep in mind the pups mom NEVER came into the conversation until recently) That was 4-15 and no, I never recived a copy of that email.
I emailed Lois again that day, 4-15-05 and asked again where my papers were. Told her fair and square I bought an NSDR registered pup, gave her MY money for one and she never delivered HER end. Due to this I requested my $500 to be refunded. She stated that I can wait patiently or return the dog for a full refund. She actually wrote up a paper stating I'll have my papers or I can return the pup for a refund. Lol That was always the agreement. She claimed she'd ignore me till 5-17-05 when I recieve my papers. That was 4-18-05.
I wrote Lois 5-15-05 to let her know the pup is doing well. Lois again blamed NSDR for her issues with the paperwork. (there's a different owner for my pups dad but she's not involved in this.) That this other person was having issues trying to get daddys papers. Lois refuses to return ANY money. When asked AGAIN about my pups mom she says she has no permanent papers, again NSDR's fault. She DID send me what she had on mom (this was 5-16-05, she never said a word about this document up to this point!) which was fine but not what I needed. Again blaming NSDR.
Once again I emailed Lois asking how she planned on compensating me for buying a NOT papered pup and yet paying for one. She repeatedly accuses me of wanting a free puppy. Then she reminds me that I CAN register the pup without everything. Yes but it's not what was agreed on and paid for. I tell her that it's not my problem her paper issue nor that they bred dogs without having papers in order first. My issue is I have a pup with NO paperwork. That she lied to me, I feel ripped off and I never would have bought a pup and had it shipped had I known it wasn't papered. I ask again for compensation with again the reply that it's NSDR's problem and that I only want a free dog.
Finally I tell her straight out that I KNOW there are others who she has done the same thing to. (they wish not to be involved so please don't ask) There are others who have recieved wormy, non-papered dogs from her. (I'm hoping this report will result in more surfacing.) Surprise, she plays dumb and says I'm the only one she's heard this from. Claims she has only been registering puppies with NSDR in the last year. Moms papers are listed as 2/3/03. YOU do the math.
Either way I will not give up on this. Something has to be done about people like her. She took our money and gave us yes a cute pup but her promises were dead ends. I wrote this to warn others. She has VERY good looking pups but has not proven to US that they are worth the paper the pups chew on. Just so everyone knows, I have a file of emails from our communications. Everything stated in this report can be linked to one or more emails. There has been more to this nightmare than what is listed here. I only wrote what is in writing in front of me. Also her guarantee on her Aussie site has since been revised since all of this. It didn't used to include the paragraph about papers and pedigree.
I am not trying to be rude with this. I know Lois thinks I am. I only want what I paid for, nothing more nothing less, as stated to Lois time and again. Since she can't deliver papers then I want SOME kind of appology (never did recieve any offer to help with worming issue.) and some kind of compensation!
