I received my Verizon Phone bill in March and there was a charge in the amount of $6.80 plus 20 cents tax for a long distance "Operator Assisted" phone call. I did some research via the Internet and then sent the following message to my friends:
I have a phone call on my bill which I do not
believe I made. The phone call is listed for OAN Services in the amount of $6.80. My bill shows that it was an operator assisted call on January 26 at 8:56PM
to phone number 425-885-9895 in Redmond, Washington.
When I attempted to find out about the number via the Internet I got the following message: "We're sorry. We did not find a listing for the phone number you entered.
The phone number " (425) 885-9895" is a Kirkland, WA based phone number and the registered carrier is Verizon Northwest -wa. However, due to number portability, some numbers have been transferred to a new service provider
other than the registered carrier."
The Verizon bill indicates this is "Nationwide Conn.inc." I have no knowledge whatsoever of this company.
When I contacted Verizon to have them remove the charges from my bill I was told that if someone sends them charges they will, by federal directive, add those charges to a person's phone bill. Also Verizon does not investigate the charges because the charge looks to the
