Ripoff - unauthorized withdrawals from my bank account

Dear Friends at usacomplaints.com:

I was startled to see a charge in my online bank statement for $9.00 from an outfit called "WLI*RESERVATIONR". I had no idea who these people might be.

I put the term into a search engine, and came up with a report on your website, showing that unsuspecting Fandango customers are giving their email addresses to what claims to be some kind of special offers and rebates program, only to learn that Fandango may be giving their credit card numbers to this mysterious "Reservation Rewards" outfit, that then takes $9.00 from your bank account each month & even if you do not buy anything from them!

When I called the "Reservation Rewards" phone number given in the original report on this website, I insisted on being connected to a live customer services person. I was courteous, but firm — they had to cancel my "account." They agreed to do so, and then told me that it was not Fandango that had given my credit card number to them, but Drugstore.com.

I contacted both Fandango and Drugstore.com and strongly suggested that they disassociate themselves from this rip-off.

I received an email from Drugstore.com claiming that they only link to "Reservation Rewards", and that I must have clicked on the link, gone to the website and given the "Reservation Rewards" people my credit card number. Drugstore.com's email also claimed that they would never have given these people my credit card number.

I find that hard to believe. My own recollection is that the Reservation Rewards website asked only for my email address. I have a policy against giving anyone my credit card numbers unless I am buying something from them or subscribing to a specialized publication.

My best guess is that there is probably some fine print on the "Reservation Rewards" website stating that if you give them your credit card number, you authorize them to obtain your credit card number from the organization which referred you.

Certainly nothing was said on their website, in my recollection, about deducting a monthly fee from my bank account without my knowledge!

People wanting to terminate these "accounts" can reach Reservation Rewards at:

800-732-7031

Go with option #3 on their phone system to eventually reach a live person. That way you can find out what company gave your credit card number to Reservation Rewards or sponsored a link to them.

They did not suggest refunding my $9, and I let it go, content just to be rid of them.

I view this kind of unauthorized "deduction" & when no services are performed & from people's bank accounts and credit cards as theft.
