Lola Farmer accepted a 500.00 deposit from us in September for a mahogany or tawny male Neopolitan Mastiff puppy. We found her through a paid membership site, PuppyFind.com. The price we agreed to pay, and the advertised price on the site, was 2000.00.
After receiving our deposit, she never sent a receipt, nor did she send a contractual agreement, stating costs and expenses related to the travel of the puppy from her home to ours.
While viewing the paid site we subscribe to (PuppyFind.com) I realized Lola Farmer had changed the price of her puppies (all unborn, and apparently, we put a deposit on a false pregnancy, according to Lola, as there are currently no puppies to be purchased) The prices were now ranging from 1800.00 to 2500.00. We would NEVER have agreed to purchase a puppy whose final cost was unknown! I contacted Lola and requested a contract be delivered to me immediately, with the cost that I agreed to pay for 2 months prior. This never happened. I then requested the deposit back, as I do not want to deal with an unscrupulous breeder. She, in turn, refused to do that as well. Now her ads on PuppyFind state the price is unspecified, and she also added that all deposits were nonrefundable. How convenient.
My complaints seem to have fallen on deaf ears at PuppyFind, as I have written them on several occassions and have received only one response, requesting further information, to which I provided.
We are now looking into the process of filing in small claims court, which has been confusing, as we are located in Florida, and she is in Texas. We believe Lola is just assuming we will not go through the hassle of it all. She is wrong.
