After purchasing the 200GB Seagate with the $50 rebate in September, I was pretty excited to see it come back this last week.
2 days after making my online purchase and receiving an email saying it was in process I received a second email telling me "We've modified your order request to reflect the "Quantity Limited" status, of an item you ordered."
I called and asked if the drive was out of stock and was told they had plenty of them.
When I asked why my order was cancelled I was told because I had previously purchased one... Almost 3 months ago.
The previuos offering was clearly marked "for purchases of qualifying Seagate drive made on 9/3/04 through 9/7/04".
This deal was marked as "Limit 1 per Household" and was also clearly marked on the rebate form as "for purchases of qualifying Seagate drive made on 11/19/04 through 11/25/04.
The only place I found anything on their site pertaining to "Quantity Limited" was a fine print blurb at the bottom of the page stating "Some online offers are subject to prior sale and may not be available"
This strikes me as false/misleading advertising as it was not clearly stated on the sale item.
After several email exchanges and phone calls Outpost apologized and implied a policy change via email to which I replied:
"An "apology" implies you agree that there is a problem but is meaningless without follow through to remedy the issue fully.
While you imply a policy change (?) you have done nothing to remedy my situation."
They are in the wrong for not stating their policy of time between promotion purchases.
