Tonya Rivens invited us to do an event she organized. We accepted the invitation and she emailed us an application. One day later she said the spot was filled, that another vendor called prior to me. Which was a lie, because she would have communicated that with me prior to her sending the application?
Then the next day she emailed me and said the spot was mine if we wanted it. That was the biggest mistake we made by accepting the spot. It was a red flag, because she was dishonest about that vendor contacting her prior to us. That was a lie.
On the vendor application it stated that vendor set-up time was 9AM to 11AM. We were at the event at 9AM and she was not there or no other vendors. I emailed her because I did not have cell number and told her that I was at the event. And wanted to know what was going on also asked her to call me.
She called me and said vendors don't set-up until 1 hour prior to the event. I told her the application said set-up was from 9AM - 11PM. And it was not communicated to us to set-up 1 hour prior to the event. We are not mind readers. If that was your procedure it should have been communicated to us. We waited there 6 hours prior to the event, when we could have come 1 hour prior to the event.
Tonya treated us like she was the victim. We only did what the application stated. She came to the event after 1:00 when the event was supposed to start at 3:00. And left and said she would be back at 2:00, which she did not return until 2:45.
She started setting-up at 2:45, when the event was supposed to start at 3:00. How unorganized was that! She walked by our set-up several times and acted like we were strangers, did not say one word to us.
My husband was talking to some friends that came to support us and was telling them the event was a flop. Tonya walked up and heard that, she was very unprofessional and address it with attendees standing around. So that was not a nice scene.
She told me she did not like my spirit. First and foremost for every action there is a reaction and that was my reaction from her lies. She told me she was at the event before 9AM and the staff said she was not. I truly don't think the staff would lie. She has NO credibility with me.
Another thing is she is well known in the Queen City. She only had 2 vendors at the event that was included us. That says a lot about her, no vendors want to partner with her! She must have a bad reputation!
We really took a lost with that event; we did not make any money! Beware vendors I do not want you to go through what I did with her. Tonya does not have the expertise or the professionalism to organize events. She calls herself a Christian, the bible says you can tell them by their fruit.
