Hey everyone, I have some very bad news but I hope this will educate and help all of you who is reading this. My friend just told me she went to Model Talent aka The Network (MTN) aka The photographers R Us aka whoever those scam artists really are! I told my friend that they gave me bad, low quality photos that were suppose to be professional industry standard. The Cd, they gave me don't even play at all! I even showed her those pics I took with them.
She still went to Ny from Philly to get ripped off by Model Talent aka The Network (MTN) Photographers R Us aka Scam artists! Anyway, she just picked up her pics and they look terrible! One picture had her mouth open like she was talking and he snapped the picture. She hates the Cd. She gave them $250.00 and they said no refund and she still have her receipt that says Photagraphers R Us! She's very upset because she really paid to have professional pics just like the rest of us who got ripped off and recieved ugly, low quality pics from them!
Those people need to be put out of business! When I went to them, I was just starting out with my career and I didn't know much! Right now, I'm going to give out some helpful hints that I found out on my own that helps me detect a scam or a possible rip off.
First, if you go in an agency and see more than two people waiting to be seen, exclude if you're at a modeling, dance or singing competition because it's going to be bunches of people in that type of setting but as far as an agency, you need to leave now because you're about to hear a pushy, sales pitch! If an agency has too many rooms, it's most likely some type of training facility and they're going too try to sell some classes, make up classes, work shop classes, etc! Also, if the phones aren't ringing off the hook and the receptionist looks bored. You need to leave because that means the talent isn't getting work or auditions! If the agency insist on you working with their photographer for your professional pics and not letting you select your own photographer, leave now because they're getting a percentage off of your pics.
Main thing! Listen closely, anyone that's pushy wanting you to make a decision now! Leave because it's a sales pitch! No agency is suppose to ask a fee from you, except the standard 10-15% when you start working! Not before you start working! Most legit agencies hours are 9a-5p M-F. If they're working anything other than that you need to be careful! It might be a rip off and waste of time! Most legit agencies don't advertise on Craigslist or walk up to you in stores or malls! They advertise from word of mouth, meaning a referral! Any agency that you come across advertising on Craiglist or in the classified section in the paper is most likely a scam or trying to sell classes.
Also, ask an agency are they registered with the Better Business Bureau? Are they an actual agency hiring models, actresses to send on auditions? Who are their clients? Remember, you are the talent and you're self employed! If you do decide on an agency, take that contract home and go over it with a trusted friend, attorney, etc. Don't make a quick decision if you don't feel comfortable! If they're pressuring you don't work with them! Ask these people questions! If they get annoyed with your questions, you don't need to work with them!
That's some advice and helpful tips that's keeping me from being ripped off, hopefully it can help you! Remember Model Talent (The Network) MTN (The Photographers R Us are scam artists because the guy Brad is a pushy, sales man (con artist) He will say anything to anyone to make money!
