Dawn Rochelle Miss Latina World Pagent
This past weekend i was in the audience of a pagent that i even knew was a scam. I was there the whole weekend with my wife who participated in the event.
Where do i start. How about friday. Friday there was a period of sight seeing in the evening. They just told my wife it was free time. Free time! They told her there is nothing to see but the strip. If your from vegas you should be offended!!! I'm not from there but know there is much more than just the strip.
Saturday's press conference was a joke. The contestants took items for everyone to bid on and everyone was only the family of the contestnat. This was supposed to be a press conference with media. I guess they consider family media! Yeah right.
The speaker that was 'running the show' couldn't even speak properly, broken english and spanglish. Which i'm not hating on that, but if this is a legit competition you would want better representation for your company.
Sunday was the day of the pagent. The pagent was in a community college in las vegas. This is not what anyone would expect for a 'world competition.' i had to buy my ticket in advance because it was supposedly sold out. There was only 30 at the most. All family supporting their wives, girlfriends, and daughters. No news, no univision or telemundo like it was said. Not even the daily paper!
Vip was the first row. The second row was general seating. $20 extra to have the judges block the view (vip). Waste of money.
So finally the show begins. The girls come out with a strut and stand in a designated spot.'was that the choreography that was mentioned?' who by the way, the lady from saturday night did the 'opening dance'.
She is multi-talented!!!
The host/s dawn rochelle and the guy that was with her (spanish translator) didn't even say the same things. Sometimes they would even cut each other off. Then the awards were given out. Photogenic got a little plaque, fashion and congeniality didn't even get a certificate or anything for that matter.
Then there were five... The top five were mentioned for the miss teen latina world. Which there were only five!!! Not their fault, i understand.
And the top five latina world. Now i'm not much in to pagents but i have seen a few on tv and the winner from the year before is always there to pass the torch, figuritivly speaking. But nope not there.
So lets recap.

oh yeah special entertainers... Yeah right, after community college that went out the window quick.
You tell me what you think. With sponsors like mtv, upn, teen mag, nbc, fox, coca-cola and not to have advertisement on tv anywhere for this... Hmmm or have the 'world' event at a college. Not even unlv.
