While this company did do what they legally were required to fulfill, they took every last moment possible and made the entire real estate transaction stressfull from start to finish. They NEVER answer their telephone number in their office in downtown Winnipeg, all you get is an answering machine. Knowing that I wanted to take occupancy on a civic holiday, I called and reminded the lawyer 3 weeks in advance politely requesting that he did not leave things till the last minute. I FINALLY got to talk to the lawyer 2 days before the long weekend and received my keys to the property at 4:00 Friday before the long weekend, before the Civic Holiday. All the while I worried that if I did not receive the keys in time, my moving plans would be screwed up.
After all that, he also asked me to leave the room when he talked to my gf (who was moving in too). I already knew she would have some rights to the property and it was ME who contacted him and ME on the deal, he didn't need to ask me to leave I WAS HIS CLIENT, and was prepared to make my decision based on KNOWING THE LAW AND HER LEGAL RIGHTS. It then took 3 MONTHS to get title.
