As we all know these are hard economic times. I was so pleased when I found the ad on the internet that boldly stated that they will pay $2,600.00 a month as a base salary, plus benefits and bonuses. I replied by phone and was given an interview that day. I went with big hopes and fingers crossed. I filled out the application and was interviewed. Again the lady repeated that I would be making $2,600.00 per month. I called back that evening to see what was the results of my interview and was told to come to the orientation. I did. Again the corporate director explained that we would be making a base salary of $2,600.00 a month. Questions kept flying in regards to the salary of $2,600.00 a month and again he reassured us it was legitimate. All we had to do was show up on time and do what was asked of us. I was asked to come back to the training the next day. Again we touched on the salary subject and again was reassured. So with no doubt in my mind that as long as I put in 110% and then some I would be paid. So as soon as I started the initial field work, it was not what they said from the beginning. The so-called company cars, were vans driven by very rude and discourteous people that drove very irradically and unsafe. We were told that we would be going to pre-set appointments. Well I was suddenly told to get out and get some appointments for the dealers for the company. I went with a young girl that had limited canvassing skills and we were going door to door trying to get a pre-set appointment. The flyers that we were handing out stated the following: The Ultimate Dry Foam Carpet Cleaning with Stain Guard Protection. Dry Foam deep cleans without soaking the carpet. Your carpet is ready for use within one hour. Give us a try and discover the difference. It's Free Today! Through this special offer, we will clean and stain guard any one area in your home up to 150 Sq. Ft. At no charge to you or obligation to purchase anything. But your opinion is appreciated. Basically we were pitching free carpet cleaning to get the kirby dealers in the door. Now I started to see that the dealers and closers were very pushy and making it very uncomfortable for the people and it was just supposed to be free. High pressure sales in my opinion. I felt very uncomfortable. Almost embarrassed to be there. What made it really a final day for me was I was going door to door and in the heat of summer with no way to use a restroom. Yes folks they don't have port a potties on those vans or much of a heart. I called my husband to just come and get me. I was so hurt that I had to be in this situation. So I graciously told the secretary that I no longer will be working for kirby the following day. I asked for my pay check and was told to wait for it for a week. So graciously I did. Then when I picked it up expecting to find a decent amount considering their promise, I got a very big surprise. I was given a check for $145.00 for 12 days of work. Not counting the training days I did and the orientation. So, I also worked more than 12 hours most of those days if that and it was a 6 day work week. They should consider themselves blessed my husband has patience. I wanted to scream. Why in the world would I think that I'm only worth $145.00 for 12 long ass days? What kind of crap is that? I don't have time to just play job. I don't think anyone does. I hope this is a very big eye opener to those who read these empty promises. Please folks, be aware of this injustice and stay far away from people that play games.
