For 3 years I've been donating to what I thought was Disabled American Veterans. However, when I recently responded once again to a taped telephone solicitation, I later realized they didn't have my new address. I looked in the phone book and called the national hq for DAV. The person there said DAV doesn't engage in telephone solicitations, only solicitation by mail. Then I knew there was a problem.
I suspect someone is collecting donations in DAV's name. The DAV truck is in our neighborhood on a regular basis collecting furniture, household good, clothing, etc. Needless to say, from now on I'll take my donations to my local thrift stores and never again will I respond to any charity who engages in tele-marketing.
