In January of this year A deputy with the Teton County Sheriff's Office (Jared Hurt) lied to a judge and the prosecuting attorney and said that Blake Lyle threatened to kill him and another man (the county's animal control officer) There were 3 other people in the office that were never asked what took place. But, that evening approximately 9 officers including members of the Rexburg SWAT Team arrested him with guns pointed at his head.
The truth was that the animal control officer burst into our place of business in plain clothes with out stating who he was and began literally screaming about the dog leash ordinance, etc. Blake asked him several times who he was and Bob Delange would not identify himself, he just continued to rant. Blake then told him to get the * out, then Bob said he was calling the sheriff, Blake told him to go ahead, still unaware of who he was. Deputy Hurt arrived within 10 minutes (How we wish these deputies would respond like that with our other criminal incedences in this county!)
Deputy Hurt was agressive and told Blake he had to listen to "this man" Blake said who the h*l is he? Hurt even said he was the animal conrol officer. Blake said I've already listened to him now you need to leave. Hurt taunted Blake asking if he knew the law and said he wouldn't leave. Hurt at one point patted the gun on his side. Blake asked them to leave about 3 to 4 times. He then told Delange he had better not come back or else he'd put a bullet in him. Hurt then said "Don't threaten us!" Blake said I'm not talking to you, I'm giving him a warning. Hurt then told Blake "You're gonna be sorry"
They continued to stand there so Blake left the office and went back into the garage. Hurt and Delange loitered a bit then went outside, loitered a little longer then got into their respective vehicles and slowly drove away. Blake was arrested at 8;00pm that eve. He was charged with 2 felony counts of threatening to kill a police officer. When all was said and done he recieved ONE misdemeanor count of disturbing the peace! The whole ordeal cost Blake around $8,000 and the police continue to harrass our family. (Following various members at night, sometimes with their lights off, recently stopping Blake's son, because Hurt told him he had mud on his headlight, then proceded to sobriety test the driver of the truck. (Blake's son wasn't driving)
We have been harrased by a former employee over the telephone with obscene phone calls for the last 6 months and have even filed reports, but the harrasment doesn't stop. When I called our prosecuting attorney about this he told me maybe because we don't get along with the police here, they won't help us. He told me we needed to get an attorney.
There is so much more going on in this county with our police department and corruption. We desperately need a sheriff that has some guts, integrity, honesty and true concern for our citizens. We have become "report your bad experience with the police central" and we've heard some doosies, but people are afraid, they cite Blake's experience and they wish to not call attention to themselves.
