Best Buy Complaint July 19
I purchased a brand new iPad from Best Buy in Arlington, Texas on July 3 spending a total of $1000 with sales tax, the warranty plan, a $50 cover, and the iPad itself. The salesman suggested I buy the warranty plan so I can get a new one if I accidentally break this one. Knowing this, I brought my broken iPad to the Hoover, Alabama store today and was notified that I will be receiving a refurbished one. I told the gentleman that was not what was told to me a year ago in Texas and all he basically said was sorry. He then explained that I would get a new one only if they didn%u2019t have any refurbished ones available or if I break it three times. Again, not what I was told a year ago when I spent $200 on the warranty plan after being told I would receive a new iPad if mine were to ever break. I then spoke to a manager in the Hoover store, and she reiterated the same thing - sorry, but it%u2019s going to be a refurbished one and there was nothing she could do about it.
I have read the warranty plan and it states getting a new item, a refurbished item, or a gift card to replace the item. This is not the case and I was misled by the salesman as well as the literature. Your employees should be able to be trusted in what they say to customers, and this is not the case.
