I and my family have been doing business with Sid’s for years, using them for our homes as well as our investment property. Twice now I have had a problem where I needed to have carpet repaid due to poor workmanship. The first time I called and had Don from the Wholesale dept. Come and take a look at the problem, I was accused of cutting the carpet with scissors, which was not the case, and he continued to accuse me of doing so even when I insisted that I had done nothing. Well workmen were sent out and guess what…the workmanship was at fault and that problem was rectified after being somewhat harassed by Don. But the carpet, which was of hi quality and had it laid in my own home never laid right, always looked as if it needed to be stretched. I did not call Don back on that matter, had other professionals come in and do the Job, far superior to Sid’s carpet layers. I had carpet put into a rental unit and asked that the workers please put the seam out of the traffic area, what did they do after giving me some attitude …you guessed it they laid the carpet so that the seam runs right across the traffic area. Then just this past year I had carpet laid in a downstairs granny flat, the workers came to lay the carpet, while they were here one used the restroom, the toilet was taken apart and plumbing work was being done, could they not see that. One worker said to me, ” I think your toilet does not work”, I told him now it did not and do not use it. After they had finished and sometime had passed I went into the unit to inspect the job, I found water coming from the bathroom, one had used the toilet and caused an over flow, the water was just at the steps coming into the main room…Had I not have gone down at that time the entire carpet would have been damaged by water, and I am sure Sid’s would not have taken responsibility for their workers. There has only been one person occupying that room, and the carpet is coming away from the backing at the seam that runs in front of a closet door. I called Sid’s and was told by their worker that the carpet was damaged from dog urine, well that is quite a feat since no dog had been in the unit, and the carpet is not stained nor is the padding. I called the retail manager who also is named Don, and explained to him the problem; he tells me his man is correct because he is a professional carpet layer. Again I am being accused of being in the wrong when in fact it is faulty material that is the corporate. So since customer service is not of a high priority in the Sid’s organization, and it is their policy to blame the customer, I will be letting all that I know of this, I will post it on my facebook I will email all of my acquaintances, family as well as friends…I will post this on every blog I come across to let everyone know how Sid’s treats a long time customer.
