Olga Giro, Breeder and owner of My Exotic Furs Cattery sold a kitten to me that the kitten's mother tested positive FIP antibodies during preganancy - FIP is the cat version of HIV. She knowingly sold me this kitten and did not disclose to me even after I told her how we have another persian cat who we are extremely attached to and love very much. She was very sneaky in her approach which covered her from me legally pursueing her but it's important to report her abusive and neglegant practices. There was one other kitten in the litter and I do not know if that owner is aware of this. My other cat was exposed to the kitten during the most contagious time and did happen to get very ill months later. Olga included the FIP positive test results of the mother in with the papers and contract for the kitten, though never disclosed or mentioned it to me. I did not take the kitten to the vet until a year or so later for a routine physical and shots. Thats when the vet reveiwed all the papers and informed me of the test and FIP exposure. Olga denied everything, said the mother does not have FIP and was tested negative. I asked her if she had the kittens tested, since the mother tested positive during the pregnancy, she said no. The fact is this eventual fatal disease is very difficult to test/detect but as a breeder knowing that the mother tested positive she should have tested the kittens and disclosed to me as I would not have purchased the kitten, who she was also selling to me at 1/2 price. I should have questioned that she was selling for so much less then her original quotes but figured it was because the kitten was not show quality and had characteristics/physical attributes of a pet quality kitten. She will be reported and I hope this helps anyone looking to buy a pet from a breeder. Do your research and ask the right questiosn to protect yourself, family and existing/other family pets.
