I noticed a check withdrawal of $29.95 on my account with a high check number, 7-digits instead of the usual 3-digits. I called the credit union and was told it was an electronic check and was paid to "Alliance" and given the number 877-886-0144 to call them. I didn't call and instead Googled them. I never use my checking account except to pay rent and loan payments, specifically student and auto.
After looking up Alliance, I called the credit union to report the fraud. I was told to close the account and send in an affidavit.
The check was not signed, but stamped on the back:
