We signed a contract with Momax Builders on March 27 to provide us with a second story addition. I was then approximately 4 months pregnant. We were assured by our salesman Luke Rosseland that our second story addition would be finished with way more than enough time before the baby was born. We were verbally promised the job would begin in about a month. After numerous hassles with permits, etc. The job didn't begin until July 8.
About 2 3 weeks into the job our roof was removed. The builders didn't tarp the roof and we had extensive water damage during a rain storm. This happened twice. They cut off our electricity to our main floor and we have lived without electricity for months.
Andrew, our supposed foreman, was only out to our job once, and that was to to pick up a payment from us. We had many times when our job would sit idle for weeks at a time. Then, we failed our first electrical inspection. When we called Andrew to let him know he didn't even ask why we failed. We were then informed by out village that our foreman should always be there for inspections.
They put down the second addtion flooring before restorting our electricity, therefore all of our main floor ceilings had to be knocked out. The drywall has been hung, but no one has been back to tape and seal it. We can't live in our home because of this.
When we would call to stress our frustrations we would be treated unbelievably rude. I was hung up once by my foreman and twice by the people answering the phone.
The owner of Momax Builders, Fred Resnick, took two checks from us on September 11. We were due for a payment after the drywall was hung. This payment was to be in the amount of $14,000. He asked us for two checks, one for $4500 and one for $9500. We found this odd however he explained one check was for supplies. We have come to find out that Fred cashed the check in the amount of $9500 at the Glenview Currency Exchange, 1410 Waukegan Rd, Glenview IL. They charged him $95.00 for this service and he walked out with $9405.00 in cash.
Since that date our second story addition has sat completely idle. No one has touched it. The check in the amount of $4500.00 was deposited into an account at MidAmerica Bank. We have tried to reach Mr. Resnick numerous times without a response.
My son was born on September 16. We have had to move out of our house because of the condition of our home. It is not a healthy environment for a newborn baby. Momvax has taken what is supposed to be a special time in our lives and made it a living hell.
